Following her Sunday Sermon on April 23 at at Calvary Presbyterian Church in San Francisco, CA, Justice Revival’s Founder and Executive Director Allyson McKinney Timm will be teaching Calvary’s Adult Education Class. The class is titled Free and Equal in Dignity and Rights: 100 Years of Struggle for Gender Equality in the U.S. Constitution.
In Galatians 6:28, the Apostle Paul declares there is “no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female,” for we are all one in Christ. The radical inclusion and egalitarianism Jesus modeled and taught planted seeds of a later human rights awakening, which proclaimed all people “free and equal in dignity and rights.” Yet the 100-year struggle for basic gender equality under the U.S. Constitution continues to face fierce opposition from political and religious foes. Come in-person to learn more about the principle of equality in Christian thought, how the ERA will address gender-based injustice and violence, and how a growing interfaith movement is advocating for this long-sought reform.
