Dear *{{Informal Name}}*,
During this holy season of Lent we’ve been focused on an effort central to our ministry – our flagship initiative to provide human rights education to Christian communities.
I hope you’ll join us for upcoming monthly events in our series, “The Heart of Human Rights,” beginning with a conversation on the death penalty the week after Easter.
Read on for details, plus highlights of the #Faith4ERA campaign. While we celebrated Women’s History Month, we were all about the action needed to make history in our time.
You won’t want to miss the events coming up in our online series, “The Heart of Human Rights: Faith-Fueled Advocacy on Issues of Our Day.”
Stay tuned for info on upcoming May and June events, where you’ll hear from experts on what you and I can do to eradicate violence against women and outlaw solidarity confinement. More details coming soon!
#Faith4ERA Makes Clear: Equality Can’t Wait Another 50 Years On March 22nd, the ERA turned 50. That’s right–for 50 years, advocates have urged our nation to respect women’s basic right to be equal under the law. On this landmark anniversary, the #Faith4ERA campaign rallied with a Tweetstorm, calling our public officials to recognize the ERA as the 28th Amendment. Ninety of you joined us on Twitter and the hashtag #Faith4ERA reached its largest Twitter audience yet, with over half a million impressions. We’re so glad you’re in this struggle with us, because we’re in it to win it!
Also last week, Baptist News Global published my most recent article on the ERA, co-authored with Justice Revival’s #Faith4ERA coordinator, Meghan Tschanz. Our piece explains how, “The ERA offers a just, humane and effective path to reducing abortion, by transforming a system that tolerates its root causes: injustice and violence against women.” This is why equality is a cause all Americans and people of faith can get behind. I hope you’ll give this nuanced piece a read, let us know what you think, and consider sharing it. ![]()
