Dear *{{Informal Name}}*,
This season of national transition has been exhilarating, historic, and at times tumultuous. Through it all, we give thanks to God for the hope of a new year in which to carry forward a banner of love, justice, and faith.
An Historic Step Toward Equality & Inclusion
Last week, Congress took an historic step forward on gender equality and inclusion. Members of the House and the Senate introduced bills in support of the Equal Rights Amendment, declaring there should be no time limit on a constitutional measure of such value and significance.
Justice Revival, along with our friends at Sojourners, commended the move to abolish the time limit on ERA ratification and urged the Biden-Harris Administration to take action in favor of the ERA, as well. (Read our full statement here.) And we were delighted to see minister Susan M. Shaw co-author an article for Baptist News Global on “Why Christians Should Support the Equal Rights Amendment.”
If you count yourself among the 94% of Americans who believe all people should have equal rights under the law regardless of gender, make sure your voice is heard. Urge your representative to co-sponsor and support HJ Res 17, the House bill to remove the deadline to ratify the 1972 Equal Rights Amendment. ![]()
Introducing A Timely New Human Rights Series
I am thrilled to announce that this year Justice Revival will be bringing you a special new series of timely, web-based events on the human rights issues of our day. Entitled The Heart of Human Rights, it will highlight courageous leaders’ struggles and triumphs for justice in modern-day America, and underscore the spiritual and human rights dimensions of their causes.
We’ll kick off in early March by featuring Christian minister, Army veteran, and Nevada state senator Pat Spearman, who worked to revive the struggle for equal rights in her state. And we’ll continue throughout the year with events on voting rights, anti-racist criminal justice reform, issues raised by the COVID pandemic, and more. Stay tuned for more details and plan to join us for these unique educational experiences.
![]() Expanding Seminary Education
Next month Justice Revival returns to the Overseas Ministry Study Center, now housed at Princeton Theological Seminary, to offer a special, online seminar version of our flagship course, “Human Rights in Christian Perspective.” Specially tailored for OMSC’s global partners—pastors, missionaries, church and mission executives, and scholars—this course is also perfect for U.S.-based clergy, faith leaders, and Christian educators interested in engaging human rights from a global perspective. Learn more and register here.
Thank you, as always, for your prayers, presence, and support. We are continually grateful for your friendship and partnership in this ministry of justice! In faith, hope & love, ![]() Allyson McKinney Timm Founder & Executive Director A Christian Voice for Human Rights
