Dear *{{Informal Name}}*,
It’s an exciting season at Justice Revival, as we're launching our first major advocacy initiative—an interfaith campaign for the Equal Rights Amendment—as well as our 2021 education series, “The Heart of Human Rights: Faith-Fueled Advocacy on Issues of Our Day.” I hope you’ll join us next Tuesday for a very special event to kick off both of these programs!
Join Us March 9th: "Full Inclusion, True Equality, Greater Justice"
On Tuesday, March 9th, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm Eastern, you’ll hear from two remarkable guest speakers about their faith-inspired commitment to equality at a virtual event celebrating International Women's Day. ![]() Dr. Patricia “Pat” Spearman, ordained Christian minister, Army veteran, and Nevada state senator, championed the successful campaign for her state to ratify the ERA in 2017, making it the first state to do so in 40 years.
Lisa Sharon Harper is a public theologian, Founder and President of Freedom Road, LLC, and author of The Very Good Gospel: How Everything Wrong Can Be Made Right (2016). The Huffington Post named Lisa one of 50 Women Religious Leaders to Celebrate on International Women’s Day.
Register early for this virtual Zoom conversation and bring your questions plus a friend or two!
Last week, I had the honor of moderating a Faith & ERA Town Hall hosted by the ERA Coalition. Renowned human rights advocate Ruby Sales and the Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis, Co-Chair of the Poor People’s Campaign, were among the esteemed panelists. Mormon, Jewish, and Muslim leaders joined the conversation, as well, to reflect on why their religious convictions call them to support equal human rights and endorse the ERA. In case you missed it, watch the video below.
Introducing: An Interfaith Statement in Support of the ERA
“All people are equally valuable in the sight of their Creator, and thus deserve equal regard in human laws and legal systems.”
This core conviction animates the Interfaith Statement in Support of the ERA, which we were proud to release last week in partnership Sojourners and Freedom Road, with signatures from over 50 Protestant, Catholic, Evangelical, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu & Sikh faith leaders. Read more about the release in this article in Baptist News Global. This is only the beginning of the campaign to mobilize more visible, vocal support for this basic human rights reform. “Full Inclusion, True Equality, Greater Justice” is our guiding theme.
In Appreciation
Justice Revival would like to express our deep gratitude to Debbie McLeod of Houston, Texas and the Grant Me the Wisdom Foundation for generously providing the foundation for our work over the last year-plus to advance faithful support for gender equality via the ERA. And finally, Thank You for all the ways you advance justice, defend your neighbor in need, stand for human rights in your community, and contribute to this ministry.
In faith, hope & love, ![]() Allyson McKinney Timm Founder & Executive Director A Christian Voice for Human Rights
