Justice Revival is partnering with fellow faith advocates from Interfaith Immigration Coalition and Church World Service to educate Members of Congress about the significant dismantling of asylum protections and the impact this has had on asylum seekers, immigrants, and unaccompanied children – on both sides of the southern U.S. border.
America has long represented a beacon of hope and safety for people fleeing violence and persecution, as enshrined in international and U.S. law. Over the past few years, however, our asylum program has been blunted by a complex network of overlapping policies designed to hinder seeking safety in the U.S. More recently, the administration has begun wrongfully using the COVID-19 pandemic to deny our moral and legal obligations to welcome asylum seekers and address their claims.
We will be meeting virtually with select representatives from Tuesday, July 14 to Thursday, July 16 to call on Congress to defund the administration’s harmful anti-asylum policies and restore asylum protections. RSVP here by July 1st if you are interested in being a participant!
